Early Tuesday morning, Barrie police responded to the area of Essa Road and Gowan Street after receiving a report of a single motor vehicle collision.
Upon arrival police located the vehicle that had travelled off the roadway, struck a hydro pole and came to rest on a fire hydrant.
The driver, a 28-year-old Barrie woman, was arrested for impaired driving and transported to RVRHC as a precaution. While in custody she provided breathe samples and was deemed to be twice over the legal limit.
The woman now faces an over 80 and impaired by alcohol charge as well as a 90-day licence suspension and a 7-day vehicle impoundment. She will appear in a Barrie court in May.

Police are seeking a male suspect following a theft of a vehicle on Monday. It is believed the vehicle was stolen overnight from a Barrie address, police report.
On Saturday at 2:45 a.m., police attended Petro Canada on Blake Street after receiving a report of a male suspect who had stolen gas. Further investigation revealed the vehicle driven by the suspect had been reported stolen the week prior.
Just after 3 a.m., while checking the nearby area, police located the vehicle travelling on Cook Street. The suspect pulled onto Sylvia Street and quickly jumped out of the car and fled the area on foot. Police pursued, but were unable to capture him as he disappeared into an obscure residential area.
The vehicle was seized and turned over to the forensic identification unit for further examination.
