Warmer than a snowbank

A concerned citizen contacted the Barrie Police Service Monday night when an elderly male was located lying in a snow bank in the south end of Barrie.
Police responded swiftly to the reported address and located the 60-year-old homeless male who was, in fact, positioned in the snow bank in the sub-zero temperatures.
Police attempted a conversation with the male and quickly learned that he was extremely intoxicated. Attempts were made to relocate him to a warm dry place, to no avail.
The male was barely coherent and police feared that, without intervention, he would perhaps suffer serious consequences due to the frigid temperatures.
Officers took him to the police station where he remained in a warm cell until he was sober enough to again care for himself.
