A Barrie man is facing several sex-assault charges after police executed a search warrant at his north-end residence, Monday afternoon, police report.
Members of the Crimes Against Person Unit and Barrie Internet Child Exploitation Unit, acting on information received, found the suspect within the residence. A Barrie male, 48, was arrested and is facing criminal charges. After he was transported from the home, police began their search, seizing several computers and devices capable of storing computer data.
The male is charged with: sexual assault, sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, sexual exploitation, and assault.

Worker hurt from fall
Early Monday afternoon, about 1:45 p.m., Barrie police responded to an industrial accident at the site of new medical centre near Little Lake Drive in Barrie, in relation to a worker falling and injuring himself, police report.
Once on scene, police determined the worker had fallen off a ledge and struck his head, sustaining substantial injuries. He was transported to RVH by ambulance where his condition and extent of injury were assessed by medical staff.
The Ministry of Labour was contacted and will conduct a parallel investigation into the accident.
Additional charge laid
On Friday, Barrie police charged a Barrie man, 26, with domestic assault committed on his 25-year-old common-law wife.
On Sunday, an independent witness reported the same male was involved in an incident with his common-law wife in September 2014. Officers were able to corroborate the story of the witness with some evidence and subsequently contacted the male advising him of the additional charges from the historical assault, police report.
The male attended the station, surrendered himself and was held pending a bail hearing.
Saturday night RIDE stops 542 vehicles
On Saturday night, members of the Barrie Police Service Traffic Unit conducted a RIDE detail at various locations throughout the City.
As a result 542 vehicles were stopped. Two drivers were arrested for driving with over 80mgs of alcohol. One driver was suspended for 90 days as a result of a warn range suspension. One probationary driver was charged with consumption while driving a vehicle. A total of 17 roadside tests were performed.
Police seek man reportedly assaulting sex trade workers at knife point
Barrie police are warning all females involved within the sex trade industry to be extremely cautious when dealing with male clients.
The Barrie Police Criminal Investigation Services are currently investigating two separately reported sexual assaults in which the female victims were assaulted at knife point.
On both occasions, the male suspect had responded to internet advertisements via social media. The suspect would meet the female victims at local hotels in Barrie and sexual assault them while armed with a knife.
The suspect has yet to be identified and is believed to be active and within the City of Barrie. He is described as a white male, 30-45 years of age, with short dark hair, and clean shaven. He is about 5’3-5’6″ tall, 250 lbs with a heavy build. He may speak with a speech impediment or lisp.
