Stolen goods pawned for crack: police

A police investigation into a break and enter resulted in the arrest of a suspect, who, police say, had already pawned some of the ill-gotten goods to purchase crack cocaine.
Barrie police took a call about a break and enter at a Worsley Street address. The owner, police report, had been out for about 30 minutes, and upon returning discovered an intruder, who subsequently fled.
Some hours later police located a man in the downtown area who matched the description of the suspect. He was approached and his identify confirmed, say police, and it was discovered he had pawned some of the stolen items to buy and smoke crack.
The goods were recovered. A Barrie man, 38, has been charged with break and enter, theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property and breach of probation. He faces a future court date.
