Barrie police are warning residents of a suspected Internet fraud going around the city.
Today (Thursday) police received three separate reports of a possible fraud relating to job applications posted on Kijiji. The fraud, say police, involves “offers of employment where persons receive a cheque with instructions to cash it with the promise of keeping a small portion of it upon sending the balance back to the fictitious company.”
If anyone has received a similar offer police would like to hear from you as the cheques seem to be bogus, they say.
