That’s a big cheque

An attempt to cash a $12,000 cheque caused a teller to become suspicious, leading to the arrest of a 21-year-old Woodbridge resident.
The young woman had opened an account last week using fake ID, police report. When the transaction appeared to be taking some time, the woman became nervous; she and a male accomplice, who was waiting in a car, were arrested.

Tool time

A Forest Dale Drive resident was approached by a male asking for donations of empty bottles under the pretence that he was raising funds for a local youth hockey team, police report.
Moments after the suspect went on his way the resident noticed some power tools missing from his garage. Police were called and located the male near a car. The power tools were located in the vehicle.
Police arrested and charged a 31-year-old Penetanguishene man.
