Barrie police gather 300 toys in annual ‘giving’ drive

Barrie Police’s Holiday Toy Drive last Saturday collected 300 toys and $480 in gift cards.
Traffic and community service officers volunteered time to staff two toy-collection stations from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the south-end Wal-Mart store. Generous citizens made the donations during the five hours the drive was in effect.
The items were delivered to the United Way Greater Simcoe County, and will be distributed over the holiday season to families in need.
“Thanks go out to our officers, United Way, Wal-Mart and to everyone who donated towards a great holiday for children and families less fortunate in our community.”
