No funds in bank to cover cheques

Writing cheques to an account which contained no funds has earned a Barrie man charges of fraud under $5,000.
Barrie police were called to a Mapleview Drive bank in regards to a male, 24, who had bank accounts in two separate financial institutions. He wrote several cheques to himself from his account in one bank and cashed them in the other. The cheques totalled nearly $3,000.
He then withdrew all cash from the second bank. Unfortunately, the male did not have any money in the accounts from which the cheques were originally written. All attempts to locate the suspect have turned up negative and a warrant is being sought for his arrest charging him with four counts of fraud under $5000.
