Needle found in clementine

The purchase of a box of ‘darling’ clementines turned up more than the buyer bargained for – a sewing needle in the middle of one of the fruits.
Yesterday (Dec. 27), police responded to a call after the needle was discovered. The clementine was part of a box of Darling clementines purchased on Dec. 23 at a Bayfield St. business.
The Ministry of Health and city police are conducting an investigation. At this time there have been no other reported incidents, and police say there is no evidence to suggest at what point the needle was inserted into the fruit.
Although this appears to be an isolated incident, police would like people to be aware of it and pay attention to the food that they are eating. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Barrie Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
