Man faces charges after car lands in bay

A man was arrested early Monday evening after a car ended up in Kempenfelt Bay near the Spirit Catcher.
On Monday about 6 p.m., police report being called to the lakefront near the Spirit Catcher in regards to a car that had just driven into the lake. Officers attended the area and discovered a vehicle half-submerged offshore. Witnesses reported that a male drove the vehicle across a walking path missing some pedestrians prior to jumping from the vehicle, which then coasted into the water.
The male was located walking on Dunlop Street. He was arrested without incident and is now facing charges of dangerous driving, uttering threats, fail to comply probation and an outstanding warrant of arrest held by the OPP.
In addition the South Simcoe Police Service are investigating this individual in relation to a fail to remain accident earlier on Monday afternoon. He was in bail court on Tuesday morning.
