Man, 81, victimized, say Barrie police

A 32-year-old man is facing fraud charges following a police investigation involving an 81-year-old partially blind resident of a senior’s home.
The investigation, police report, centred on an alleged “victimization” of the elderly man by the younger, his former personal support worker.
Police say that during “many outings that the victim and the personal support worker attended together,” the worker helped the elderly man “removing funds from his bank account from a bank machine.”
Police say that between May 2-16, “the personal support worker removed the victim’s bank card and conducted eight different transactions removing $1000 from the victim’s bank account.”
The younger man has been charged with fraud and criminal breach of trust. He was released with a future court date and a number of conditions.
