Lock your cars, say Barrie police

Barrie police are reminding residents to lock their cars to prevent theft and damage.
The caution was issued in connection with the apprehension of a youth breaking into cars. After taking a call from a citizen, police arrived at a residence and found that a homeowner had caught an extremely intoxicated 16-year-old male going through cars. After speaking to the youth, police found that he was also on probation and out two hours past his court-imposed curfew.
He was arrested and charged with breach of probation, taken home to his parents and released with a future court date.
With the approach of warmer weather, police advise residents that vehicles are being broken into every night.
“Lock your doors and don’t leave anything valuable in your vehicles. Never leave house or vehicle keys in your vehicle,” say police.
