Lie leads to more charges

Telling police a fib landed a Barrie man in more trouble than he would have been if he had been truthful.
Early Friday morning a Barrie police officer conducted a routine vehicle stop on Essa Road. The officer found that the passenger of the vehicle was acting suspiciously, and began a conversation with him.
The male provided the officer with verbal identification, but continued to be evasive when questioned.
The officer eventually learned that the male had lied about his identity to hide the fact that there was an outstanding warrant for his arrest. A 47-year-old Barrie male was arrested for obstruct police and on the outstanding warrants. He was held pending a bail hearing.
