K-9 unit help collar Peterborough man

A Peterborough man, 26, was apprehended by Barrie police after he attempting to flee in his vehicle and then on foot.
Monday night (Nov. 28), an officer saw a vehicle leaving the parking lot of an adult entertaining place on Dunlop Street. The driver apparently spotted the officer and backed into another lot, seeming to stay, police report.
The officer kept watch and the vehicle “suddenly accelerated out of the spot and fishtailed across Dunlop St. towards Highway 400.”
The officer pursued the vehicle, which lost control on the 400 ramp, landing in a ditch. The driver took off on foot, police report.
With the assistance of the K-9 unit, the man was found in the washroom of a nearby Tim Hortons. He was charged with dangerous driving, flight from police and possession of a controlled substance. He was released with a future court date.
