Two Barrie males are facing drug related charges following an investigation by the Barrie Police Street Crime Drug Unit, Monday near Little Avenue and Young Street.
During the investigation, police report, three males were arrested and found to be in possession of cocaine. Subsequent to the arrest of the males, a search warrant was executed on a nearby residence where an additional quantity of cocaine and marihuana was seized.
A 19-year-old Barrie male was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine), possession of a controlled substance (cocaine) and breach of probation. The second male, 16, was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine), two counts of possession of a controlled substance (cocaine and marihuana), and weapons dangerous. The third male was released unconditionally.

A local man turned himself over to police after a warrant had been issued for his arrest in relation to an alleged domestic assault.
On April 19, police report that a male and female left their Barrie home to go grocery shopping. While on route to the store the couple became engaged in a verbal argument that resulted in the male allegedly striking the female in the face with a closed fist, police report. The two parties later returned to the residence. The male party later left the home.
On April 24, the female reported the incident to the police and officers subsequently issued a warrant for the male regarding an offence of assault. Attempts were made to locate the male with no success.
On April 28, the male turned himself in on the outstanding warrant of assault. He was arrested and held pending a bail hearing.
A Barrie woman, 51, found herself in police custody Monday night after being arrested for impaired driving, refusal to provide a sample and possession of marihuana, police report.
Just after closing time, police report they received information a female was attempting to drive her vehicle on Dunlop Street East after several witnesses attempted to stop her from entering the car. She was followed by a taxi driver until the arrival of the officer, police report.
The woman was arrested for drunk driving and found to be in possession of a small quantity of marihuana. She was taken to the police station where she refused to provide a breath sample, police report. She was released with a future court date.
An 80-year-old Barrie man is facing a Highway Traffic Act charge relating to a collision with two motorcycles that sent the riders to hospital.
On Sunday, police report the elder driver was travelling eastbound on Mapleview Drive, and attempted to turn left on Bryne Drive. As the vehicle proceeded to make the turn, two motorcycles travelling west on Mapleview entered the intersection, police report.
One motorcyclist was unable to avoid the vehicle turning and struck its side. The other was able to maneuver the bike but caught the tip of the vehicle causing it to swerve and strike another motor vehicle, police report.
Both riders were transported to the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. Areas of the roadway were closed for the investigation. The driver has been charged with left turn not in safety under the Highway Traffic Act.
A Barrie man who was at court last Friday to face charges now has further reasons to attend the hall of justice in the future, police report.
The man, 27, was at the Barrie Courthouse “to answer to several criminal charges when he assaulted a police officer and three special constables in the courtroom,” police report. The alleged altercation occurred when the presiding judge asked for the male to be removed from his courtroom due to his inattentiveness, police report.
“The male became extremely angry, agitated and uncontrollable. In an attempt to gain control of the male and remove him from the courtroom one sworn police officer and three special constables were injured.”
The officers were taken to the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre for treatment. “Injuries consist of cuts, abrasions, a punch to the face, a push to the ground resulting in a knock to the head of a female special constable. One officer was also spit at in his mouth area,” police report.
The male was in court to answer to the following charges: Assault a Peace Officer, two counts of Arson/Disregard for Human Life, two counts of mischief Under $5,000, fail to Comply with Probation Order. The above charges stem from an incident that occurred on Sunday April 20th, 2014, police report.
The matter is being investigated by court officers. More information will be provided when it becomes available, police report.
A Barrie woman, Tami Hutcheon, who had been reported missing has been located and found to be safe, police report.
