HTA charge for failing to use crosswalk

A pedestrian is facing a Highway Traffic Act after being struck by a vehicle on Wednesday afternoon, police report.
About 4 p.m., police say the pedestrian was walking in the area of Bayfield and Sophia streets, across Bayfield, and between stopped traffic. A vehicle turned left onto Bayfield from Sophia, and struck the pedestrian, police report.
“The pedestrian came out from stopped traffic not in the approved walkway and was struck by the vehicle that had turned onto Bayfield Street,” police say.
The pedestrian was treated for minor injuries, and charged for failing to use a crosswalk. Police urge the public to use the proper crosswalks when crossing a street.
