Fire marshal asked to investigate

The Ontario Fire Marshal’s office has been asked to investigate “an unusual number of fires” at a John Street business, police report.
and fire responded to a business when the building was observed on fire. The fire spread to the duct system of the large building, making it difficult for the fire department to extinguish the total burning area.

Spitting mad
A Barrie man is facing charges after an altercation with his former landlord, during which, police report, he spit in his face.
The incident reportedly occurred when the man dropped by the landlord’s office on Dunlop Street West, and started arguing with him. The incident escalated to the point where the man spit, and threatened to damage and blow up his former landlord’s house and office, say police.
The male, 32, was arrested and charged with assault and two counts of uttering threats. He was eventually released a future date in court and conditions impose on him.
Drunk tank, one more time
A Barrie male has another charge to add to a lengthy lists of charges laid against him since he moved to Barrie five years ago, police report.
The man was seen to be heavily intoxicated male in the downtown area, on Tuesday. He was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place and for his own safety, and held until sober. Since moving to Barrie, he has been arrested or investigated 127 times, almost all being for alcohol related instances.
