East-end Barrie parties keep cops busy

Booze-fuelled parties near Georgian College kept local police hopping Friday night and early Saturday morning, responding to 22 calls from irate citizens.
The majority of the calls, say police, were related to alcohol and noise. About eight of them “were received in the area of the Duckworth Plaza and the student buildings beside it. The calls were for disorderlies as well as noise.”
Police shut down a number of the parties and dispersed the celebrants. The problem of rowdy and partying students has long been an issue in the area, leading to several community and municipal efforts, apparently with little impact.
