Early Monday morning Barrie police observed a vehicle which they say was travelling almost 100 in a 50 km/hr zone.
When stopped, the driver was found to be intoxicated and was arrested for impaired driving. At the police station the driver, say police provided two breath samples, registering readings of almost double the legal limit.
Police report the driver had been arrested last November for impaired. His vehicle was seized for 45 days for the second charge.
• Update: Bayfield Street at Carson Road is now open after being closed due to what police term a serious accident. Southbound traffic had been rerouted along Carson, while northbound traffic was detoured along Hanmer Road.
