Clerk’s instincts lead to arrest

An alert clerk at a grocery store on Bayfield Street, suspicious that a man was using a stolen credit card to pay for purchases, managed to delay him until police arrived.
Barrie police took a call around 9 p.m. Wednesday from the store. The clerk felt the name on the card did not match the male attempting to buy store gift cards with the credit card. Her instincts led police to charging a 20-year-old Toronto man with fraud/use of stolen credit card.
The suspect was taken to the police station and held for a bail hearing.
