Citizens robbed in the light of day

Police responded to two cases of Barrie residents being robbed in the downtown core.
On Wednesday at 7:30 a.m., a 67-year-old man was doing his banking at a Collier Street ATM machine. He was approached by two males requesting change, say police, and when the man declined, “one of the suspects grabbed the victim’s wallet, and after a brief struggle, both males ran off with the wallet and a small amount of money.”
Nearly two hours later, just after 9 a.m., a woman, 38, was at her vehicle on High Street. Two males approached and one grabbed her purse, After a brief struggle, the suspects fled with the purse.
The robberies were investigated by the Criminal Investigation Division, resulting in two suspects being identified. The males, 21 and 26, of no fixed address, were arrested and charged with two counts of robbery each, as well as charges for breaching their probation.
