Chunk of Barrie man’s ear lost in brawl

Barrie police continue to investigate a brawl outside a downtown restaurant during which it appears a 22-year-old male had a chunk of his ear bitten off.
The call to police came in early Sunday morning. Around the same time Simcoe Paramedic Service also received a call about an injured male. By the time police arrived, the crowd had dispersed but an injured male remained at the scene.
Police were advised about the ear incident; the missing bit was said to have been recovered and given to paramedics. The victim told police he had gotten into an altercation with two males. He was transported to the RVH for further treatment.
Witnesses to the assault tried to intervene, police report, and when they did they received injuries to the face area. The suspects were seen fleeing north on Clapperton Street.
Descriptions were provided and police located the suspect males, placing them under arrest. They were later released on a Promise to Appear with Undertaking.
The victim was moved to St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto for treatment to his injuries.
