A man reportedly brandishing a replica handgun in the vicinity of a Barrie apartment complex on Duckworth Street is facing a future court date after being charged by Barrie police.
Police were called to the complex by a man who said another male approached him, saying he had a handgun and asking if he wanted to get shot, police report.
The target of the inquiry, say police, ran into the complex and contacted authorities. When located, the suspect, 20, was found to have a replica pellet gun on his person. He was charged with weapons dangerous, breach of probation, and was released with a December court date.

Man charged with assaulting boy, six
A Barrie man is facing assault charges after he allegedly grabbed a six-year-old boy by the collar and “threw him across the room.”
Police report that a woman and her son, the six year old, were at a friend’s house when the male, 32, “became upset with the two boys playing.” The boy sustained minor injuries to his leg, say police.
After the woman and son returned home she called police, who subsequently dropped by the man’s residence and charged him. He has a court date later this month.
Girl finds knife in Halloween treat bag
A Barrie girl returned home from a night of collecting Halloween treats with a disturbing item in her candy bag – a four-inch folding knife.
The concerned parents contacted police. Unfortunately, because the parents had handled the knife, retrieving fingerprints proved to be a difficult task. The girl was not able to direct police to the residence from which the odd ‘treat’ originated.
The investigation continues.
‘Cat Woman’ tangles with police
A situation involving a woman dressed as Cat Woman became a little scratchy for Barrie police, Halloween night.
Police were called to a Barrie pub about an intoxicated woman causing a fuss. When they arrived, they attempted to escort the female in question out, but she apparently declined to do so, becoming “very aggressive (and) refusing to leave and physically flailing at one of the officers.
The woman had high heels on and reportedly kicked at one of the officers, hitting her in her chest and lower body. While being transported to the police station police say the woman tried to kick out the windows of a cruiser, but was unsuccessful in her attempts.
She faces assault police and mischief charges, has a future court date and a number of conditions. The officer was not seriously injured.
