Barrie youth charged with trafficking

A Barrie youth is facing a drug charge after running from a meeting with a Barrie police officer at a south-end high school.
Police report that the community services officer went to the school to talk to a student about a breach of probation. During the conversation, police report, the youth ran from a office and out of the school. The officer pursued and observed the youth disposing of a package. He was caught and taken into custody.
The canine unit was brought in to search the area, and a plastic bag with multiple packages of marihuana was located, police report. The youth was taken to the police station on charges of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and breach or probation. He was held pending a bail hearing.
