Barrie woman follows suspect

A rear-ender at a traffic light led a vigilant citizen to follow a suspected drunk driver, resulting in charges.
On Thursday Barrie police responded to a report of a fail-to-remain collision on Dunlop St. A woman was stopped at the red light at Dunlop and Hart streets when she was rear-ended. The victim got out of her vehicle to speak with the driver of the suspect vehicle, but the suspect just drove around her and left the area, police report.
The victim followed the suspect who stopped in a parking lot a short distance away. She again approached the suspect vehicle, but it again drove off as she attempted to speak to the driver.
Again, the victim followed the suspect vehicle until it eventually became stuck in a snow bank on Innisfil Street. Police attended and attempted to speak with the driver of the suspect vehicle, but she locked the doors and gestured as though she was shooting the officers with a finger gun, police report.
Officers eventually managed to get her to unlock the doors, at which time she was arrested for impaired driving. She was transported to the police station where she blew over three times the legal limit.
Her licence was suspended for 90 days and she was released with a future court date.
