Barrie police seek aid to solve burglaries

The Barrie Police Service is enlisting the public’s aid in solving a rash of burglaries on small businesses centred in the Tiffin, Anne, Bayview and Brock streets area.
The break-ins all have similarities which lead police to believe they are the work of a single individual. The premises are primarily entered between midnight and 5 a.m., usually through a window that has been smashed with a rock. The suspect, say police, is inside between 30 seconds and two minutes, removing the cash register in the process.
Targeted businesses include shops, restaurants, bakeries, and other retail stores. In all, police have listed seven burglaries suspected of being the work of the culprit, who is described as a white male, 5’9” – 6’0”, and of slim build. He was wearing a variety of clothing, including: blue and green hooded jacket, blue jeans, gloves, black hoody, black pants, gloves, black jacket with red stripe on front, and a black baseball cap.
Police ask that anyone with information regarding the incidents contact Detective Constable Jason Dorion at 705-725-7025, ext: 2168, or Detective Constable Mark Hankin at 705-725-7025, ext: 2173, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
