Barrie police investigate arson

Barrie police are investigating a fire which they say was set deliberating, labelling it an arson.
The Barrie Police Criminal Investigation Division is investigating a fire that occurred 1 p.m. Monday. The house was abandoned and had been boarded up following reports to youth entering it. The fire was extinguished after several thousand dollars of damage, with no injuries.

Police terminate pursuit
A driver of a car pulled over by police for running a red light took off after an officer asked about drug paraphernalia seen in the vehicle, resulting in a police pursuit.
On Sunday, police pulled the car over on Anne Street. The driver fled after being questioned, resulting in a short pursuit during which the suspect intentionally rammed a police cruiser.
Police terminated the pursuit, concerned about public safety. Early Monday morning, the suspect turned himself in at the OPP station in Alliston.
Barrie police drove to Alliston and arrested the male, 44, who was charged with flight from police, assault police, dangerous driving and fail to remain at the scene of an accident. He was held pending a bail hearing.
