Barrie police find loaded gun

A traffic stop near Veterans Drive and Harvey Road led Barrie police to the discovery of a loaded semi-automatic handgun.
As police were conducting a controlled drug and substance act investigation, a passenger in the vehicle tried to flee the scene. However, he was apprehended following a brief foot chase. He was arrested and the gun was discovered.
The male, 23, was taken to the station and held for a bail hearing. He is facing numerous firearm and drug charges. Another passenger was released unconditionally.
