Barrie man, 18, busted for child porn

An 18-year-old Barrie man was arrested yesterday (May 26), and charged with a number of child pornography offences.
The Barrie Police Service’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit, with the assistance of the OPP, began an investigation on May 3. The investigation culminated with the arrest of the Barrie male and the laying of charges.
A Criminal Code search warrant was executed at a south-end Barrie residence. The accused is charged with two counts of possession of child pornography, one count of accessing child pornography and one count of make available child pornography.
He was held overnight pending a bail hearing on Friday (May 27).

Unwanted attentions
Last week, a young Barrie woman dropped by the police station to report that she was being harassed by an older male known to her.
The man was contacted by police and cautioned about contacting the woman. The message seems not to have been heard as he continued to “harass and annoy the female both by text messages and by attending (her) place of employment,” police report.
On Monday the male, 48, went to the police station at the request of the investigating officer. He was subsequently arrested and charged with criminal harassment. He was released with a future court date and a number of conditions.
