Barrie driver speeds into more trouble

Speeding while going through a school zone may have been a poor choice for a Barrie man who wasn’t supposed to be behind the wheel in the first place, according to police.
Police stopped a vehicle speeding through the community safety zone on Livingstone Street West. The motorist turned out to be “well known” to police as a suspended driver. Police report that the vehicle was not insured and the license plates belonged to a different vehicle. It was subsequently discovered that the plates were in fact stolen, police report.
Additionally, police found that the driver was wanted on outstanding criminal warrants. A Barrie man, 43, is charged with possession under $5,000, drive under suspension, speeding, operating a motor vehicle without insurance and numerous minor traffic offences. He was held for bail on the outstanding warrants for failing to attend court and failing to comply with probation.
