While the vast majority of Canada Day revellers enjoyed the festivities peacefully, not all were so accommodating.
Barrie police officers arrested several people in the downtown area who had seemingly imbibed too much. During the course of one arrest a struggle ensued and an officer was injured.
He was taken to the hospital for treatment but was unable to return to duty.
Police were also kept busy on other parts of the city, responding to 32 calls on incidents ranging to noise and fireworks complaints to fights and intoxication.

Barrie youth robbed
A Barrie youth had his brand new baseball hat and $40 in cash stolen near Bayfield and Livingstone streets.
The youth, 16, told Barrie police that two youths had approached him, relieving him of his hat, valued at $40, and his cash. He was not injured. The accused are to have their day in court sometime in August.
