Barrie police investigate robbery

Barrie police are investigating a robbery that occurred Monday night at the Country Convenience store on Essa Road.
Police report that at about 9:15 p.m. a store employee, alone in the store, went outside for some fresh air. While outside the store, he was engaged in conversation by the suspect who alluded that he needed change for the phone booth.
The suspect followed the victim in and subsequently walked around the counter and showed what appeared to be a handle of a knife, police say. Demanding money, the till was opened and the suspect made off with about $500. He also took a phone and was seen riding north on Essa, towards Ferndale Drive, on a bicycle.
He is described as a white male in his 20s, 5′ 8″ and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue pants, and white runners. He has what appears to be a large nose. He also appears to have short dark hair as observed from the top of the forehead area.
