Barrie cabbie assaulted

A request by a cab driver for a drunk fare to exit the vehicle turned nasty Wednesday night, resulting in the driver being assaulted, police report.
The cabbie picked up the male, however he was unable to provide the driver with his address. After driving around for some time attempting to locate the residence, the driver became frustrated and asked the male to get out of the cab.
The male became enraged and jumped from the back seat to the front seat and proceeded to attack the driver with his radio microphone, police report. The cabbie fought the male off, at which point the suspect armed himself with a snow brush found in the car and continued his assault.
A passerby observed what was happening and contacted police. The passerby then followed the suspect, updating police with his location, and the male was arrested a short distance away still carrying the brush. A 22-year-old Barrie male was charged with assault and faces a future court date.
