Attempt to flee police proves unsuccessful

Attempting to flee police during a traffic stop earned two Barrie men a day in court in December, facing a number of criminal charges.
Barrie police tried to pull a vehicle over during a traffic stop Monday on Cedar Pointe Drive. Refusing to pull over, the two men fled in a pickup truck. As they did, police report, the truck hit another vehicle.
The suspects were later seen taking plates from the vehicle and attempting to flee on foot. However, they didn’t get far before being apprehended by uniform and K9 officers.
The driver, 30, is charged criminally with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Failing to Remain at the Scene of an Accident, Failing to Stop for Police and several Highway Traffic Act offences.
The passenger, 28, was charged criminally with Breach of Probation as he was on conditions to not associate with the driver.
