Woman accosted at downtown ATM

A hooded man accosted a Barrie woman who had just used an ATM machine, but fled after failing to get any money from the woman.
The woman went to the kiosk area of a downtown bank to use the ATM machine, followed by a male. As she left, the male, now wearing a balaclava over his face, approached and demanded money. When the woman produced an empty wallet, the male fled.
The victim called 911 and was able to provide a description, allowing police to locate the male, 25, in the downtown core. When he was located a kitchen knife was found on him.
Police say the male lied about his identity and that he had two outstanding warrants for his arrest. As a result the male will be facing the following charges: Robbery, Carry Concealed Weapons, Obstruct Police and the Warrants for Theft Over and Fail to Attend Court.
He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
