Police investigate ‘photo’ man

Barrie Police are reporting that while walking home from a school on Grove Street East, around 3:20 Tuesday afternoon, a young boy noticed a man in a light blue Hyundai Elantra 4 Dr sedan style vehicle who appeared to be taking photos of him.

The boy became alarmed, ran home and alerted his parents who subsequently contacted police. The area was checked and the vehicle was not located. Any residents with further information are asked to contact the Barrie Police with any information.

What’s that smell?

While conducting a routine traffic stop, officers from the Barrie Police Traffic Unit noticed a distinctive odour emanating from inside the vehicle.

The officer subsequently conducted a drug investigation and upon arresting and searching the male’s vehicle, two pounds of cannabis marihuana and $8000 were located in a bag in the rear seat.

The driver was transported to the police headquarters and was subsequently released to appear in court.

Cat shot with pellet gun

Police received a call for service in regards to a local cat that had been found injured in the area of Strabane Avenue.

The cat was taken to a nearby vet hospital where it was attended to by veterinarians who indicated the cat would survive and that it had sustained injury to its leg and neck. It was determined the cat had been shot by a pellet gun.
