Police investigate ‘early morning death’ at Barrie location

The Barrie Police Service is presently investigating an early morning death after officers responded to a residence located on Penvill Trail in Barrie.
At 5:49 a.m. this morning, Barrie police report to responded to the home where a male victim was located suffering from life threatening injuries. The male was then taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
One person is currently in custody and the Barrie Police Homicide Unit is conducting this ongoing investigation. The Barrie Police Forensic Identification Unit and uniform officers are also providing assistance at the scene.
The identity of the deceased will not be released until the conclusion of a forensic post mortem examination which is scheduled to take place at the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OCC-OFPS) located in Toronto.
This investigation is isolated in nature and there is no threat to public safety, police report.
