Man rescued from chilly waters

A man who is believed to have been kayaking on Kempenfelt Bay was rescued about a kilometre out in the bay, police report.
Barrie police were contacted and coordinated the rescue. The male was taken to the city marina where he received medical attention. He was found to be suffering from hypothermia.
Barrie police would like to remind everybody to be safe on the water. Apart from ensuring personal floatation devices (PFD) are aboard, checking out the water temperature is also advised. And, police continue, it’s a good habit to let someone on shore or at home know of your plans.
