License Lookout a success, say police

Throughout November, Barrie police were actively watching for suspended drivers during the ‘License lookout’ campaign. As a result, 43 suspended drivers were located and charged with their vehicles towed.
One criminally disqualified driver was arrested and held for bail, and 15 charges for not having insurance were laid. Police also laid 20 Highway traffic Act charges as a result of the campaign.
The initiative, say police, was a success due to the co-operation of the public by reporting suspected suspended drivers or calling Crime stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS.
