Fire shuts down Five Points

Update: the street has been reopened and the investigation turned over to the Ontario Fire Marshal. Police say there is no criminal investigation.

A fire in downtown Barrie has closed Dunlop Street between Maple and Bayfield streets, and forced the relocation of area residents.
Fire crews responded to a fire call at 15 Dunlop Street East about 5:30 Saturday afternoon. Crews were still on the scene hours later. The building houses John McNabb men’s clothing store, and a couple of apartments above. The fire was quickly brought under control.
Tenants were evacuated and one person was treated on site for minor injuries. The Salvation Army shelter around the corner on Bayfield is arranging for temporary shelter for the residents.
Investigators were on site looking into the cause of the fire. The Five Points intersection was closed as well as the stretch of Dunlop from Bayfield to Maple.
