Count still on for area 3 board rep

Residents of city wards 7, 8, 9, 10 will have to wait a little longer to find out who will represent them at the Simcoe County District School Board.
A similarity in the names of two candidates has city election officials examining the results. The problem was identified during the routine checks used to complete the election certification process, according to a City of Barrie release.
“Due to the nature of this inconsistency, we are undertaking a further examination. The results for the office of Simcoe County District School Board Trustee Area 3 … will not be declared until the City has completed a full examination of the documents and materials related to this particular office,” said city clerk Dawn McAlpine.
According to the release, the numbers as reported on the printed summaries of votes cast from each ballot station require additional verification to reconcile them to the electronic records.
The result is the only one from the Oct. 25 municipal election that remains uncertified. Although not identified in the release, two candidates have similar names: Christine Williams and Tiffany Williams-Palmer.
