CAS employee charged with fraud

An investigation by the Barrie Police service fraud unit has led to charges against an employee of the Simcoe County’s Children’s Aid Society.
The police investigation was launched after the society made a complaint regarding one of their employees. The investigation revealed that this employee would put in work-related invoices and receipts for money and services that were to be used for various programs offered by the agency. This employee would pocket the money, say police.
The society completed the year-end accounting of this money and noticed the irregularities. The loss in this matter is over $10,000. The employee is charged with Fraud Over $5,000, Theft Over $5,000, and Utter False Documents.
