Brother on Amazing Race to find brother

Two Barrie police officers, Jonathan Waugh and Anthony Forrest, are being supported by the Barrie Police Service in their quest to be picked for the television show, Amazing Race Canada.
Anthony is brother to Hal Forrest, who has been missing since leaving home to “find himself” on Feb. 28, 2005. He has not been seen by family or friends since. Anthony hopes the exposure produced by the audition tape will assist in the search for his brother. In an interview with the Toronto Star, he said the tape is “about getting the message out.”

The family believe Hal Forrest may be living in British Columbia under a new identity. However, a recent local lead prompted Barrie police to re-release a composite drawing of what he look like today.
Between Feb. 13-15, a number of people in the Bala area reported observing and speaking with a male who closely resembled the composite drawing released by the Barrie Police Service in 2012. He was riding a bicycle. The man reportedly said he had been living in British Columbia for a number of years, and was travelling by bicycle to Newfoundland in order to “find” himself.
He reportedly told people that he had asked for food along the way, and had been helped by good Samaritans. He was described as intelligent, articulate and polite, police report.
He was last seen heading towards Gravenhurst from Bala, along Hwy. 169. The male is described as a Caucasian, 5’8″, thin/medium build, brown eyes; medium /dark brown coloured hair and was clean shaven. He was last wearing a puffy down type red or maroon jacket, dark snow pants, and a black toque. He is riding a black bicycle with a large amount of items on the back covered in a blue tarp.
Anyone with information about this male is asked to contact the local police service, or Detective Constable Chris Castonguay of the Barrie Police Service at 705-725-7025.
The show, set to roll on CTV this summer, is a Canadian version of the hit international series. The show will feature competitors exploring the wide and varied world of Canada. Specific destinations won’t be revealed until the series airs, but the full scope of Canada is expected to be presented.
“THE AMAZING RACE CANADA is a big show for a big network,” says Phil King, President, CTV Programming and Sports. “Canadians deserve their own summer version, distinct from what is seen in fall and winter. With the incredible diversity, scope, beauty, and sheer land mass that Canada has to offer, THE AMAZING RACE CANADA will explore the world within Canada. It’s a perfect extension to an incredible brand, and a huge opportunity for racers, viewers, and advertisers.”
It’s based on the hit show that premiered in the United States in 2001. For more on the Canadian version, click here.
