Barrie man stabbed

A Barrie man was stabbed in the stomach Friday night during an altercation with another man, described as an acquaintance.
The man, 19, was attacked in his own home around 10:30 Friday night. The two males, who reportedly know each other through friends, were involved in a verbal dispute earlier in the day.
The suspect broke into the victim’s house by kicking down the door. The two became involved in a physical altercation which ultimately resulted in the stab wound. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival.
Police commenced an investigation and after interviewing witnesses, were able to identify the suspect, who was located, arrested and charged with break/enter, assault with a weapon, weapons dangerous, fail to comply with undertaking, and fail to comply probation.
He was held pending a bail hearing. The victim attended Royal Victoria Hospital and received treatment for his injury which consisted of staples in the wound.
