Barrie casino in the cards Thursday night

Barrie residents can hear proponents and opponents of a possible casino in Barrie, tomorrow night (Thursday, Dec. 13) at council chambers.
The City is looking at a casino as part of the long-desired downtown hotel and convention/conference centre. Such a facility is seen as a key component to downtown revitalization plans, as well as a significant tourism draw.
If approved the casino would be operated by a vendor on behalf of the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG). Public input is required before any decision can be made. Following a presentation by the OLG, residents can give feedback to the committee through an open delegation, or by filling in and submitting a form that will be available at the meeting.
The session is scheduled from 7-9 p.m. Comments can be made up to Dec. 17 online at the City’s website, by email at, and by mail to Communications and Strategic Initiatives Department, 70 Collier Street, PO Box 400, Barrie, Ontario, L4M 4T5
