Barrie buses to service Angus, Borden

Barrie Transit’s reach is extending into the Township of Essa following the successful conclusion of talks to get the buses rolling west of city limits.
In March talks began between the City and the Township, with the aim of hammering out funding and route details by May 1. In a memo to council, Barb Roth, director of recreation, facilities and transit department, writes she is “pleased to inform (council) that” a draft agreement has been approved by Essa.
City transit staff have met with Essa officials to determine routes and stops, to and from Angus and CFB Borden, Roth continues. As of May 1, a Transit Service Partnership Agreement had been drawn up and was awaiting signatures.
It’s anticipated the service will begin sometime in August, with a special media event planned for later to May. The service will be operated on a cost-recovery basis by Barrie Transit.
