Fireworks over the bay
Spirited renditions of O Canada erupted spontaneously as boisterous citizens showed their pride in their nation, and their city. The display started at 10 and went on for nearly 30 minutes.
The waterfront was packed, both on and off the shore. Thousands took root at the city’s beaches and parks, and boaters caught the show from the water. A steady stream of pleasure crafts headed out on the bay for that perfect vantage point.
Rumour has it that the federal government chipped in to help with the costs, at least according to a tweet by Barrie MP Patrick Brown, who watched the show from the Skybank.
