Barrie-area Munro plans to hire 50-60

Employment opportunities are increasing in the region as Munro Ltd. prepares to expand its workforce for the second time in less than a year.
The company, one of Canada’s largest concrete and steel makers for infrastructure work, is hiring another 50-60 workers to add to its current staff of 300.
“This is fantastic news for all area communities,” said Mayor Jeff Lehman. “Munro’s continued growth provides opportunities for quality industrial jobs with a world-class organization. Munro’s recruitment efforts benefits residents in Barrie, Essa and our region.”
Munro needs the additional workers for a second shift to its tunnel lining segment production line, and to support contracts to build a large number of bridge girders.
“We need motivated people to join our production team in order for us to deliver on product demand,” said John Munro, President and CEO of Munro Ltd. “We are seeking highly-skilled, motivated people interested in a stable manufacturing career with Munro Ltd.”
Munro has a 470,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility on a 110-acre property in Essa Township. It is about a five-minute drive from Barrie.
