Kindergarten registration kicks off

September is still a spring and summer away, not to mention the rest of winter, but parents with children heading off to Kindergarten this year can register them now.
The process to register children going into Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board Kindergarten classes kicked off this week. To facilitate the process, parents can contact their school to request an information package, Getting Ready for Kindergarten, which includes a parent booklet, child’s activity book and a DVD.
The package introduces parents and children to schools and programs, giving them information into the process of registering their children. The material is also available for download from the board’s website.
“This is an exciting time for parents and children who are looking to start Kindergarten in September,” said Brian Beal, director of education. “We know that parents have a lot of questions and that they want to start the registration process early. Staff in all of our school communities is ready to welcome our youngest learners and to help answer parents’ questions. We are committed to ensuring that each of our Kindergarten students is welcomed into our Catholic elementary schools, as they begin a journey of learning and discovery that will last a lifetime.”
In Barrie, St. Mary’s and St. Monica’s elementary schools will be offering full-day Junior and Senior Kindergarten classes. Other schools will offer half-day programs.
