Board keeps St. Joe’s closed

St. Joseph’s Catholic High School in Barrie will be closed tomorrow (Monday) as the board awaits results of tests conducted at the school over the weekend.
The school was evacuated Friday after an unidentified odour was detected. Ten students were treated at Royal Victoria Hospital for minor ailments, including headaches. The Barrie fire department’s hazardous-materials team was onsite Friday.
In the press release, the board said the school will reopen once all testing shows it is safe to do so, and when cleaning of the school is complete. Further details on the reopening of the school will be provided as soon as it is possible to do so, states the release.
Impact on the upcoming exam schedule is being assessed by the school administration. Any changes to the schedule will be communicated to students and parents once the date to reopen the school is confirmed.
Updates on this situation will be provided on the board’s website, on the St. Joseph’s Catholic High School website, and through the local media, including radio stations.
